When Do You Introduce Cutlery to Children?
It is recommended, by most experts, that you introduce cutlery to children around the age of 10 to 12 months. This should be around the time that toddlers begin to show an interest cutlery. Start with a spoon and then let your little one move on to a fork as their fine motor skills improve. Remember, don’t worry of your little doesn’t get the hang of using cutlery straight away, it isn’t until they are around 18-24 months that they will start using cutlery independently. At this stage choose a cutlery set that your child will enjoy using like our Wild Wonders set, which comes with its own carry case, perfect for travelling.

When can my kid start wearing an apron?
Kids can start wearing aprons as soon as they are standing and walking around. It’s probably best to start with a tabard style, like our Star Baker or Dinosaur tabard. This tabard style fits over the head and shoulders and has elastic at each side, providing fuller coverage than your average children’s apron. Once kids get a little bigger, you can opt for a more traditional style apron, with a loop neck and straps that tie behind the body. Our Ebb & Flow Kids favourites include Fred’s Farm and Gaggle of Geese, both by Threadbear Designs.
